ACOUSTIC DOPPLER WAVE GAUGE                       For more information click here

RD Instruments have adapted their field proven Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) to measure waves. Using a seabed mounted ADCP the instrument identifies directional sources of multiple wave energies while providing measurements of wave height, wave direction, wave period, water depth, and, simultaneously, ocean currents. The instrument can also be used exclusively as a wave gauge by electing not to record the current data. The WAVES ADCP can be installed in a self contained mode or via cable for real time monitoring.

The WAVES package can be added as an upgrade to ADCP’s already in the field so that existing owners can acquire wave measuring capabilities at a lower cost compared to a dedicated wave gauge.

RD Instruments have been issued with a United States Patent for their WAVES system.
